Jennifer B Cutler: It's déjà vu as the Sharks defeated the Habs 2-1 on Friday night The San Jose Sharks defeated the Montreal Canadiens 2-1 on Friday night, very similar to how the Anaheim Ducks defeated them this past Tuesday.

A top 6 LW, a 2nd line C and a top 4 LHD

It's a pretty tough shopping list but MB should be doing everything he can to fill one of those spots now and plug another one short term with a rental near the deadline!

They went toe to toe with some of the better teams from the west and came up just short... Gibson and Jones matched Price save for save but the Habs were right there in both games, as always the lack of finish did them in, how many legit top 6 forwards are currently available throughout the NHL?

Habs should trade Beaulieu, Plekanec and pick to Avs for Duchene and Wiercoch. This will solve many of their needs and brings them closer to a cup.

No question acquiring Duchene would give the Habs a great 1-2 punch down the middle for years to come but what does that proposal do for Colorado?

Aside from Iginla Avs does not have much veteran leadership, so adding Plekanec would give them more balanced.

You don't give up a young C with this much upside to acquire leadership... No GM anywhere would trade Duchene for Plekanec

Beaulieu has better upside than Wiercoch, so there you go

Even if you take Wiercioch out of the deal and make the pick a 1st rounder, Colorado still wouldn't do it

If you want Duchene you are giving up a first and second round pick, McCarron or Juulsen, and probably Lindgren. Plus they have to make them take on Plekanec or Desharnais (and eat cap hit for Duchene if it's Desharnais). That's a hard trade to make.

Why would Avs want Plekanec? Its not like he's a top scoring F that can help COL.

What's the deal with Pacioretty? Is he being shopped?

My sources are saying "perhaps, or perhaps not. It's unclear."

Hope that helps.
